"Attending a concert at Nia Moves is like watching your favorite artist perform in your own living room! It's an intimate experience like no other, and inexpensive too!"

"There's no bad seat at Nia Moves! It's such a unique feeling, being that close to the artists. I was so close to Ari Hest, I could feel his foot tapping. I can't imagine a more intimate musical experience."

"The venue of Nia Moves provided one of the most personal and inviting settings I have ever listened to music in. I almost felt as if Ottmar Liebert was playing in my living room as everyone was sitting on mats and pillows on a hardwood floor. I will definitely go back again."

My thoughts about the 3 shows I saw at Nia Moves:
The Listening Room is such an appropriate name for this venue because that's what the audience is there to do, and they do so attentively. Being in such an intimate space, where the stage is simply a run on the floor and everyone is barefoot, it breaks the barrier between audience and performer. It is an ideal venue to discover singer-songwriters like Ari Hest or K.S. Rhoads - they may be unknown artists to you when you come, but you will leave a fan. That's not to say you can't rock in a yoga studio, because Grayson Capp did just that. Already it is one of my favorite venues in Houston.

"The ListeningRoom was the perfect place to have my acoustic show because of the relaxed setting and excellent sound throughout. Corinne was very hospitable as well and I truly look forward to playing there again."

I've heard David Wilcox perform each and every year that he has come to Houston at different venues all over the city. I have to say that his show at the Nia Moves Studio was far and away the best ever!! The acoustics were outstanding and the relaxed, personal atmosphere made you feel like he was playing for you in your living room. Your staff was freindly and very welcoming. WOW! You've got a great thing going..... I'll definitely be back to see other musicians!

Couldn't agree more or add much to what J.F. had to say!

Went for the first time a few weeks ago to see Glen Tilbrook and then again for Vienna Teng ... unbelievable!! Definitely a venue to go and hear - not to socialize, text or troll .... after disappointing crowd manners at the warehouse and others recently this was a breath of fresh air. The artists seemed to really get a kick out of and enjoy the venue and atmosphere ....

Can't wait till next time

"Amazing! My first time to see the world famous musicians Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra was not in an uncomfortable stadium, stuffy auditorium, or crowded nightclub but rather an open, relaxed, intimate listening studio. I look forward to my next "listening" experience."

Where can you see nationally touring acoustic recording artists along the likes of Loudon Wainwright III, James McMurtry, David Wilcox and Vienna Teng, in a setting where you may sit within a few feet from the performer and the only noise level is coming from the stage? At the Listening Room.

Helen Terry and Kristie Bryant--the owners of Nia Moves, a fitness and movement studio located in the Woodland Heights, convert their place a few nights a month--usually on weekends, to The Listening Room. The Listening Room is an awesome music venue offering an experience akin to having the performer play in you own living room. A level of intimacy seems to develop between the performer and the audience; the audience politely listening, keeping the conversation to a minimum, has a most positive effect on the performer, and he reciprocates in kind with a wonderful combination of artistry, musicianship and dialogue.

Depending on who is performing, admission ranges from $15 or so to $32 and change. The Listening Room does not serve refreshments, other than pre-packaged health bars and bottled water.

We started attending in July and have seen maybe a half a dozen performances since. We have never been disappointed. I promise you won't be either; it will be an experience you shall not forget.

The Listening Room is a gem for anyone who wants to get up close and personal with the musicians at a concert. The venue is beautiful, perfectly dim, excellently acoustic, and the air is tinged with an almost-religious-reverence for the sounds of the voices and instruments. Intimacy as J F said is the perfect word to describe it.

You walk in and they make you take off your shoes (my boyfriend will tell you that this is much like my own apartment). Bring socks if your toes get cold.

There are cushions and mats to sit on up front and chairs in the back. The room is arranged in a semi circle around the musicians, who do not sit on a stage.

The concerts are well-priced, it's first-come first-seated (at least for the concert I went to). It was my third time seeing Vienna Teng, and it was absolutely captivating.

It's as if you're speaking one on one with the performer. There is utmost respect for the very thing that brought us all there- the music.

I have to say that this has been one of my favorite concert venues to date.

Vienna had us all stand up and sing and move around and clap, and it was like a little party. I loved it. Can't wait to come here for another concert.

"I have seen maybe a dozen artists at Nia Moves over the past year and there just isn't another Houston venue that compares. The acoustics are amazing, there isn't a bad seat in the house, and the opportunity exists to meet musicians on a much more personal level. Looking forward to the 2009 season."
